Stocks ended lower but managed to pull off decent gains for September. The focus is clearly on whether some or all non-essential government services will be shut down if the parties fail to reach a compromise by midnight.
It should be an interesting day for stocks on Tuesday if government shuts down and delays the flow of official economic data.
